What is Bakeke Ball?

Bakeke Ball is the most exciting new outdoor game that can be played anywhere and transported easily. It’s the most fun you can have with a bucket!

Skip it! Toss it! Buck-it!

Bakeke Ball is played by setting up the two goals on opposite ends either in the water or on land. Team members skip the ball when in water or toss the ball when on land in an attempt to hit the goals. Hitting the goal is one point, through the scoring hole is three points, and landing the ball on the ledge behind the scoring cord is called a “Buck-It” and results in an AUTOMATIC WIN!!!

Easily Transported

All parts of Bakeke Ball game set, as well as personal items, can be placed within connected bucket goals and easily transported/stored wherever you go. 

Everything needed for a day at the beach can fit in the Bakeke Ball bucket.

About Us

Thank you for visiting BakekeBall.com, the home of the new and exciting beach, lake, bay, backyard, tailgate, BBQ, and well…anywhere game!  Besides being able to play our game virtually anywhere, our unique design using a bucket allows you to easily transport the game and carry your belongings with it, wherever your travels may take you.

BUK-IT LLC and Bakeke Ball were created after a group of family and friends developed a new idea for a fun and exciting outdoor game.  The idea for our game, Bakeke Ball, came to us as we were enjoying a beautiful day on the boat at Tices Shoal in Forked River, NJ during the summer of 2015.  Being a group of people who enjoy staying active, we couldn't just sit on the boat all day.  We began skipping a ball back and forth to each other in the water.  We soon got bored and realized we needed a target and point system to make things a little more interesting.  From that day on, we began creating make-shift games that we could use to have some fun in the water, at the beach, in our back yard, and so on.  We landed on the design of using a bucket for the game, and one year later, we formed our business BUK-IT LLC and launched our first product, Bakeke Ball.

How to Play

On Land

Set Up

  1. Remove the ball and poles from the bucket and unhook the string handle from the notch on the side of the bucket.
  2. Separate the two halves of the bucket by disconnecting the Velcro straps and unhooking the left bottom cords. 
  3. Hammer base spikes into the ground at a distance of 25 feet apart.  (Base spikes not needed if playing on sand)
  4. Place base poles over spikes and tighten the thumb screw. 
  5. Insert extension poles (the end with relief cuts) into each of the base poles.
  6. Adjust the inner poles to desired height and tighten the thumb screw. 
  7. Secure the cap on the back of the bucket to the top of the adjusting pole.  (Align cap fasteners with slot on the adjusting pole)
  8. Tuck the rope handle under the score cord.
  9. View diagram on the back page for labeled parts.

Rules of Play and Scoring

  1. After set-up is complete, pick teams.
  2. Bakeke Ball can be played with 1 person or 2 person teams. 
  3. When playing with 2 person teams, teammates stand on opposite ends and alternate turns.
  4. With 1 person teams, opponents stand on opposite ends and alternate turns as well. 
  5. Decide which team will start play.
  6. Players toss ball at the bucket/goal. 
    1 point is awarded for hitting the bucket/goal
    3 points are awarded for throwing the ball through scoring hole
    An automatic win is awarded when a player “BUCKS-IT” (This occurs when the ball is tossed and remains on the ledge of the bucket/goal behind the goal line.)
    No points will be awarded if:
    Player steps past the bucket/goal when tossing the ball
    Or
    If opponent on the opposite end makes a “robbery.”  (This occurs when the opponent on the opposite end catches the ball after it hits the bucket/goal, or goes through the scoring hole before the ball hits the ground.)
    **Opponent trying to make a “robbery” can move side to side, but must remain behind the pole until ball makes contact with the bucket/goal**

  7. Players/teams continue alternating tosses until one team reaches 21 points or gets an automatic win.  (Keep score by sliding the beads on the back of the bucket/goal to the left.)

In Water

Set Up

  1. Remove the ball and poles from the bucket and unhook the string handle from the notch on the side of the bucket.
  2. Separate the two halves of the bucket by disconnecting the Velcro straps and unhooking the left bottom cords.
    **Base spikes not needed when anchoring in sand**
  3. Anchor base poles into sand at a distance of 40 feet.
  4. Repeat steps 5 through 9 from on land set-up.
    **Optimal water level should be thigh to waist deep with the bottom of the bucket/goal above the water line.  Use caution in water, game will sink.**

Rules of Play and Scoring

  1. After set-up is complete, pick teams.
  2. Bakeke Ball can be played with one or two person teams.
  3. When playing with 2 person teams, teammates stand on opposite ends and alternate turns.
  4. With 1 person teams, opponents stand on opposite ends and alternate turns as well. 
  5. Decide which team will start play.
  6. Players must skip ball off of the water in an attempt to hit the bucket/goal.
    1 point is awarded for hitting the bucket/goal
    3 points are awarded for skipping the ball through scoring hole
    An automatic win is awarded when a player “BUCKS-IT.” (This occurs when the ball is skipped and remains on the ledge of the bucket/goal behind the goal line.)
    -When playing with 2 person teams, the teammate that is not throwing the ball must play defense and make a “save”.  A “save” occurs when the ball is skipped and does not make contact with the bucket/goal and the teammate on the receiving end keeps the ball from getting past him/her.  If the ball does get past, it is called an “error”.  An “error” results in a 1 point deduction for that team.  Additionally, if the ball makes contact with the bucket/goal or goes through the scoring hole and the defensive player catches the ball before it hits the water, it will result in a “double.”  This means that the points awarded for either hitting the bucket/goal or going through the scoring hole will be doubled.  Player attempting to make save or double must remain within 3 feet of the bucket/goal.  **There is also no “robberies” in this playing mode.**  
    Furthermore, there is also a 1 point deduction in the event of a “wild pitch”.  A “wild pitch” occurs when the player throwing hits the bucket/goal on the fly without skipping the ball on the water.
    **When playing with 1 person teams, the “save” and “error” components are not used.  Instead, the “robbery” component takes their place. 
    -No points are awarded if player steps past the bucket/goal when skipping the ball. 
  7. Players/teams continue alternating tosses until one team reaches 21 points or gets an automatic win.  (Keep score by sliding the beads on the back of the bucket to the left.)

Warranty covers normal use of product. Removal of any parts/components will void warranty. Upon receipt of product inspect for damages. If any damages are found, make report to gameinfo@bakekeball.com within 10 days for consideration of replacement or return of product.
